The two flute down cut bit is the ideal choice when working with materials that have a top edge you want to keep clean. This methodology also applies to materials with a denser core such as hardwoods and mdf. A down flute bit can also be utilized to help your fixtured part from moving during the cutting process as the cutting forces are being applied downward toward the fixture as opposed to pulling the part up.
